A batch of medical supplies arrived in Venezuela on Monday from the Islamic Republic of Iran, in order to help combat the Covid-19 pandemic in the country. The arrival took place at the Simón Bolívar International Airport, La Guaira state.
This shipment includes different diagnostic test kits for Covid-19 and other medical equipment that is additionally limited in a wide field of cooperation that exists between the two countries, stressed the president of the Iran-Venezuela High Level Commission and vice president of Planning, Ricardo Menéndez, who received the technical assistance with the ambassador of Iran in the South American country, Hojjatollah Soltani.

Menéndez recalled that in order to continue strengthening these cooperative relations, the president of the Bolivarian republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, will travel to Iran whenever possible “to embrace the Iranian people for their solidarity, their courage in a marketing scheme for gasoline for our country, that has been affected as a result of the unilateral and illegal sanctions of the United States,” he stressed.

Additionally, within this cooperation, Menéndez confirmed that there is a large agenda for the high-level joint development commission that includes the area of science and technology, as well as aspects of hydrocarbons, industry, housing and food.
Likewise, he mentioned that a strategic topic in scientific matters linked to the research around Covid-19 has been incorporated to continue advancing in the policy of conservation of life and peace.
For his part, the Iranian ambassador Soltani stressed: “For us it is with pride we are on the side of the Venezuelan government. Less than a week ago, Iran’s tankers arrived with gasoline and today we see the arrival of these materials to strengthen the fight against the coronavirus, which shows that while our enemies try to sanction us to affect the government’s commitments to serve our peoples, Iran, Venezuela and many revolutionary peoples of the world, we strengthen our solidarity.”
