The president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, appointed Julio León Heredia as the new minister for Agriculture and Lands, while highlighting that León Heredia did a great job as governor of the state of Yaracuy.
“From Yaracuy to the Major Leagues,” remarked President Maduro after appointing León Heredia on Wednesday, February 5. “You have everything for this, to configure the concept of regenerative, agro-ecological and productive agriculture, to produce organic food for Venezuelans, the goal has to be zero imports.”
The President commissioned León Heredia to recover the concept of the multipurpose, regenerative and varied-scale fruit cultivations.

Heredia, in addition to being governor of Yaracuy, has had a remarkable political and professional career in Venezuela.
Before becoming governor, he was a National Assembly deputy, where he stood out for his work on issues related to regional development and infrastructure. His focus on education led him to implement programs aimed at improving access and quality of education in Yaracuy.
During his time as governor since 2008, he focused on improving public services and fostering local economic development by supporting entrepreneurs and small businesses. He also promoted initiatives to strengthen citizen participation and improve security in Yaracuy state.
