President Nicolás Maduro, emphasized on the economic issue to guarantee the independence of the region and sustain a fair social model.
The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, made this proposal before the XVI Summit of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America – Treaty of Commerce of the Peoples (ALBA – TCP) that takes place in Havana, Cuba.
He asked to assume the first Venezuelan cryptocurrency the Petro “as the center of his monetary efforts for economic liberation.”
During his speech, the Venezuelan Head of State stressed that the peoples that are part of the international body must unite their efforts for the production of wealth as a whole.
“I want to insist on the need to take and take back strongly the economic issue (…) the vital center of our effort must be to guarantee the true independence of the region and the sustainability of a fair social solidarity model,” he said.
He added that “this annual ALBA summit is always relevant to renew the political strength, the ideas and the projects of our unitary Bolivarian alliance, it is always a special opportunity to unite the effort of the peoples.”
Bolivia and the Economic Council of ALBA
Due to the economic development that Bolivia has achieved in recent years under the leadership of Evo Morales, President Maduro informed that he is proposing that the Plurinational State should direct the Economic Council of ALBA.
The Venezuelan head of state emphasized that it is essential to move towards new policies to eradicate the consequences of capitalism in the region.
“In the economic aspect, we have a capitalist vision inherited from economic colonialism and that is why they dominate us, they blackmail us,” he reflected.
Enhance social programs
The national leader also asked ALBA to strengthen the social programs developed by the regional block to provide comprehensive assistance to the people.
“The OAS (Organization of American States) only has left to Latin America and the Caribbean, threats, loneliness, and invasions. It has been the ALBA that has taken education to the ones that could not read or write and has had a great practical sense to turn our ideas, good dreams and our strength into actions and achievements.”
He emphasized that Venezuela will make every effort to resume Mission Miracle, a social program that channels solutions for those who suffer from visual impairment.
