On May 14, 1948, the Israeli regime declared its illegal creation, for which it forced the departure of the Palestinians and seized their lands through violence and death. The crimes gave rise to Nakba Day (catastrophe), on May 15, according to Venezolana de Televisión.
Bellow the full text of the statement (OT translation):
“The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, on behalf of the Venezuelan people and government, sends a fraternal greeting to the people and government of the state of Palestine, on the occasion of the 72nd anniversary of Al Nakba, date marking the beginning of ethnic cleansing and mass expulsion of Palestinians from their land by the occupying power of Israel in December 1947.
Venezuela once again expresses its firm support for the noble Palestinian cause, strongly condemns and rejects the alleged illegal annexation operations announced by the new Israeli coalition government to establish new Jewish settlements in the West Bank and in the Jordan Valley, seeking to apply the illegal “Deal of the Century” driven by the imperialism of the United States of America. Today, more than ever, Al Nakba is in force, as is the permanent struggle of the Palestinian people for the respect of their sovereignty, independence and self-determination.
Sooner than later, Palestine, with the majority determination of the member countries of the United Nations, will achieve recognition as a sovereign state, in accordance with international law and as established in UN resolutions that establish the creation of the Palestinian state in accordance to the borders validly established in 1967, having East Jerusalem as its capital. Only then will there be peace for all parties.”
