Venezuela’s Public Ministry (MP) reported that together with the Judiciary it agreed on 177 revisions of measures for those prosecuted for the acts of violence recorded in the post-election period of last July.
As part of a new day of case evaluations, the MP specified that with these 177 revisions of measures, the total number of releases amounts to 910.
These revisions are carried out in compliance with the request of President Nicolás Maduro to review of all the files of those involved in the acts of violence that occurred after the presidential elections of June 28.
The violent actions promoted by sectors of the extreme right after the elections left 28 dead, 190 wounded, and damages to at least 500 public institutions.
On repeated occasions, Attorney General Tarek William Saab has clarified that no NGO can claim responsibility for these releases, since they were achieved only as part of the work of the Public Prosecutor’s Office and the Judiciary.
Compatible Left Joins Imperialism in Celebrating Defeat of Syria
Following the serious events of violence and attempted destabilization that sought to generate a civil war after the presidential elections on July 28, reviews are being conducted within the framework of due process guaranteed by the Constitution of the Republic.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office will continue the process of exhaustive review of these cases in defense of peace, justice, and human rights in Venezuela.
