The Secretary of State of the United States, Mike Pompeo, accused the president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, of using food as a “political weapon” to control citizens.
According to Pompeo, who confessed months ago that his government had taken years to create the current crisis in Venezuela and more than 90% of Venezuelans cannot obtain what is necessary to cover their most basic food needs; which is why “Maduro forces Venezuelans to choose between food and freedom.”
