Caracas (OrinocoTribune.com)—Venezuela is closely following the events taking place in Syria, expressing its firm desire that the country find a path “towards the peaceful resolution of its differences without foreign interference or the use of violence as a mechanism to address political conflicts.” This was announced by the Venezuelan government on Monday, December 9, through a statement issued by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs.
The text reports, “Venezuela reaffirms its solidarity with the Syrian people at this crucial moment and calls on the international community to promote solutions that contribute to peace, eradicate violence and terrorism, and build paths for comprehensive development in Syria.”
On Saturday, December 7, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that it was “following the dramatic events in Syria with extreme concern.” Through the Foreign Ministry, Russia announced that after talks with the opposition, Bashar al-Assad decided to “resign from the presidency and leave the country, giving instructions to carry out a peaceful transfer of power,” RT quoted at the time, later reporting that Assad was granted political asylum in Russia.
Meanwhile, many analysts are concerned about Syria’s future, which might jeopardize its territorial integrity and become a scenario similar to Libya after the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) invasion in 2011.

The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela closely follows the events taking place in the Syrian Arab Republic, expressing its firm desire that this brotherly people can find a path towards the peaceful resolution of their differences without foreign interference or the use of violence as a mechanism to address political conflicts.
Venezuela reiterates its commitment to the preservation of the territorial integrity of Syria, as well as the defense of its sovereignty, independence, and absolute respect for the values ​​enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, placing special emphasis on the preservation of the civil, political, and human rights of all its population without any distinction. This includes the protection and peaceful coexistence of the diverse religious, cultural, and ethnic expressions that enrich the identity of that country, the Cradle of Civilization.
Venezuela reaffirms its solidarity with the Syrian people at this crucial moment and calls on the international community to promote solutions that contribute to peace, eradicate violence and terrorism, and build paths to comprehensive development in Syria.
