Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has lashed out at US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in a tweet published this Saturday. “24 hours ago an arrogant clown, who pretends to be a diplomat, said that people were dancing in the streets of Iraq. Today, hundreds of thousands of our proud Iraqi brothers and sisters have given him their answer throughout their (national) territory,” Zarif wrote.
His tweet has been accompanied by several photos showing numerous people holding Iranian flags that have taken to the streets in rejection of the death of General Qassem Soleimani in an attack by the US. in Baghdad under the direction of President Donald Trump.
“The end of the evil presence of the US in West Asia has begun,” he concluded.

The head of the Iranian diplomacy has thus referred to Pompeo’s tweet published shortly after the aforementioned attack by Washington, which has claimed the life of Qassem Soleimani, commander of the Quds Force – an elite unit of the Corps of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard— and of Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, the head of the Iraqi militia Kataib Hezbollah.
“Iraqis dancing in the street for freedom, grateful that General Soleimani is gone,” said Pompeo’s publication, accompanied by a video where dozens of people run down a street, some of them carrying a huge shoulder Iraqi flag.

New attacks in Iraq
Zarif’s tweet has been published while it has transpired that several missiles hit this Saturday in the Green Zone and Jadriya area in Baghdad, as well as at the Balad air base in the Iraqi province of Salahuddin. According to preliminary information, no one has died in these attacks, while reports of injured people are more contradictory: some indicate that there were no injuries while others raise their number to five.
In addition, while this situation is developing, from Kataib Hezbollah they have warned the Iraqi military to move away from the US bases at a distance of no less than 1,000 meters beginning this Sunday night.
“The leaders of the security forces should not allow their fighters to be a human shield for the invaders ,” he underlined a commander of the Special Operations militia.
