Members of the US congress recognized again the criminal effects of unilateral coercive measures (wrongly called âsanctionsâ) against Venezuela, Iran and North Korea imposed by the United States that undermine the fundamental rights of the people.
With a proposal, members of Congress seek to pressure President Trump to clarify to financial institutions that transactions meant to combat Covid-19 should not be blocked.

âOnce again, US members of Congress recognize the criminal effects of their sanctions against Venezuela, Iran and North Korea, with a congressional proposal forcing Trump to clarify for financial institutions that transactions meant to combat Covid-19 should not be blocked,â wrote Venezuelan Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza on his Twitter account @jaarreaza, attaching an excerpt of the document.
They agreed on a collective approach to show the US administration and international financial institutions the importance of providing necessary assistance to countries so that they can face the fiscal challenges posed by the pandemic.
In this framework, they called for the cessation of the blockade against Venezuela, Iran and North Korea for humanitarian reasons, given all countries must be part of the global effort to combat the Covid-19 pandemic.
