The opposition leader Henrique Capriles rebuffed the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) proposal to sign an agreement to recognize the results of the upcoming presidential elections scheduled for July 28.
“That agreement is propaganda, that is not in the law,” said Capriles. “It is not in the law that candidates have to go to the National Electoral Council (CNE) to sign an agreement … That is part of the same script that they repeat every time there is an electoral process,” said the former governor of Miranda.
🟡 Capriles aseguró que el acuerdo para reconocer los resultados de las presidenciales es propaganda política.
🗣️ En la ley no está que los candidatos tengan que ir al CNE a firmar un acuerdo porque a Maduro le provoca.

Following the line of non-recognition of the will of the Venezuelan people, Henrique Capriles joined the position of the opposition presidential candidate, Edmundo González, who ruled out signing an agreement to recognize the results.
The proposal to sign an agreement was issued by the coordinator of the PSUV’s Venezuela Nuestra campaign staff, Jorge Rodríguez, who invited all candidates to commit to recognizing the results of July 28 presidential elections. Jorge Rodríguez expressed his opinion that the Unitary Platform candidate is refusing because he believes that his right-wing coalition will be defeated.
Many analysts expect the far right to adopt the familiar strategy of refusing to recognize any results that do not play in their favor and thereby promoting violence and instability following the elections.
Opposition candidates Luis Eduardo Martínez and Enrique Márquez joined and supported the proposal, expressing their willingness to sign it.
