This Tuesday, the president of the National Electoral Council (CNE) of Venezuela, Elvis Amoroso, reported that the institution remains in permanent session planning the numerous elections scheduled for 2025.
The CNE has determined the date of the first national and regional elections, and this information will be released shortly, wrote Amoroso in a press release.
Although the election date has not been released, the CNE’s announcement set the tone for the upcoming elections constitutionally scheduled for 2025. Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, during his Annual Address to the Nation, mentioned that he would prefer having the three elections held separately and the CNE announcement points in that direction.
Below is the full statement of the CNE:
The Electoral Power of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, in compliance with its constitutional prerogatives as the only entity established for the organization and holding of elections in our country, wants to inform our entire population that it has been in permanent session since Friday, January 17, in order to plan the nine electoral events established so far for the year 2025: three constitutional elections, those of Governors and Regional Legislative Councils, elections for municipal mayors and municipal councils, and elections for deputies of the National Assembly, as well as the six consultations on projects of the Communal Power.
In this sense, we would like to inform our entire population that we have already defined the date and schedule of the first of these constitutional elections, and in the next few hours, we will announce the date, call the election, and immediately activate the events of the electoral schedule.
