According to the US Navy’s most recent publications, the aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford, the US Navy’s most modern and advanced aircraft carrier, has not moved from North Africa three days after passing through the Strait of Gibraltar en route to the Caribbean.
The military affairs outlet War Zone reported that, in parallel with the aircraft carrier’s operational pause, the US Senate fell just two votes short of passing a bill to halt attacks against Venezuela. In addition to the opposition Democrats, two Republican lawmakers expressed support for reversing the escalation. Meanwhile, senators who supported US President Donald Trump and rejected the proposal confirmed that there have been no significant developments in recent days.
Upon leaving the session, Republican Senator Todd Young shed light on the current situation. The senator posted on social media that his vote against the resolution was not an endorsement of the actions of the US Department of War, but rather the result of multiple prior consultations. Everything indicates that those consultations with officials from the Trump administration confirm that, for the time being, there are neither plans nor legal grounds for an operation against Venezuela.

Meanwhile, the Department of War continues its campaign of extrajudicial executions in the Caribbean and the Pacific. Sectors of the US and Latin American far-right are stating that there are only weeks, or even hours, left before a military incursion into Venezuela takes place.
At the same time, the US Navy has recently published references to the work it is carrying out on the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford, as well as the work of the Sixth Fleet, which is primarily deployed to Europe, Africa, and the Mediterranean.
Amid the White House labyrinth, violent extremists of the Venezuelan far-right foreshadow military action as they call for war. However, the nuclear aircraft carrier that they celebrate appears not yet to have begun its Atlantic crossing.
In Venezuela, real life continues as people begin Christmas shopping and organize a new consultation process for communal projects, for which nearly 40,000 proposals have been submitted.
